Dear Families,
On Tuesday, September 23rd, we will celebrate the end of our first quarter with a Student BBQ! All students are invited to join in this fun event during their lunch time. Our Food Service Department will be grilling and serving outside. Students will be able to choose from a hamburger, hot dog, or chicken patty sandwich. Please ensure your child has funds on their lunch account if they plan to purchase a meal.
If your student brings lunch from home, that’s absolutely fine—they’ll still eat outside with everyone and enjoy the celebration.
We’re excited to mark the end of a great first quarter together!

As our teachers begin introducing AVID in classrooms, a key component students are learning about is WICOR. Mrs. Martinez’s 4th grade class recently explored what WICOR looks like in action.
Just as a reminder, WICOR stands for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. These strategies are used every day to help students think critically, ask meaningful questions, work effectively with others, stay organized, and engage deeply with what they read and learn.
To reflect on their learning, students completed the sentence: “Because of AVID I…” Their responses give a wonderful glimpse into how AVID strategies are already making a difference in their classroom.

Last week we had a fender bender because a car pulling out of a parking spot backed into a car parked illegally in the fire lane. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the fire lane to go check out your children from the office or the pre-school.

We are excited to announce that our Book Fair will begin the week of September 29th! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new books and build their love of reading.
In addition, we hope you’ll join us for our annual Family Grill Night on Tuesday, October 1st from 5:00–7:00 PM. This fun evening brings our community together to enjoy good food, great company, and a chance to shop the Book Fair as a family.
Here is the link to RSVP for the Family Grill Night.
We are also in need of parent volunteers for our Book Fair. Please see the sign-up here.
We can’t wait to see you there!

Alphabest Attendance & Pick-Up Procedures We’ve recently had situations where children checked into Alphabest were redirected to parent pick-up without our knowledge. Please remember that once a child is signed into our program, we are responsible for them until a parent signs them out.
To avoid confusion and ensure we remain in compliance, families must let us know in advance if there are changes to their child’s schedule. You can:
Call or email us directly
Use the Kangaroo Time App/KT messaging system
Inform the school front office
We understand that last-minute changes may come up, but advance communication helps us keep all children safe and accounted for. Thank you for your continued support!

The town of Oro Valley will be performing chip sealing on Woodburne. Please see the attached pictures for reference. While we don’t have exact start times for construction each morning, your patience will be greatly appreciated. The school will accommodate any late arrivals caused by traffic delays; please be especially patient during dismissal. To help reduce traffic, you might consider using the bus on these two days.
